Driver may have been drunk in 1 of Michigan's many car accidents

Fatal car crashes often leave families searching for answers. There may be no clear-cut cause for the incident as authorities attempt to piece together the facts. However, there are times when the causes of car accidents are easily discernible, such as when a driver is under the influence of drugs or alcohol. This may have been the case in a recent fatal crash right here in Michigan.

The incident occurred late at night on a recent weekend when a man was driving alone in his car. Police say that the man veered into the other lane of oncoming traffic and struck another vehicle. The other driver died before medical treatment could be administered at the site of the crash. Police are not saying how they determined that the man was intoxicated at the time of the accident, though they have claimed that he had been at a party prior to the incident.

The man faces charges relating to operating a vehicle while under the influence resulting in another’s death. He is out on bond and has been instructed to wear an instrument that can monitor alcohol consumption. He has not entered a plea in regard to these charges.

Those who lose loved ones in car accidents may wish to pursue other legal actions regardless of the outcome of any criminal case. A wrongful death claim in civil court could result in financial compensation that could be useful in covering any end-of-life expenses that resulted from the crash. This Michigan crash is still being investigated, but hopefully there will be answers soon.
