Motorcycle Accidents: Michigan biker dies in Washtenaw County

As the summer months come into full swing, more motorcycle riders take to the roadways. With more motorcycles on Michigan roads, motorcycle accidents also increase. The results of these types of accidents can be severe, if not fatal. In a recent report, a motorcyclist died as the result of being involved in a collision in Washtenaw County.

Reportedly, the motorcyclist was driving in the southbound direction when a truck attempted to make a left turn into another roadway. As a result, the truck collided with the motorcyclist, seriously injuring the rider. Preliminary information suggests that the biker was already in the intersection at the time of the fatal accident. The rider was taken to a local hospital where he was taken to surgery.

Police officers were dispatched to the afternoon crash scene, which occurred within the intersection of Michigan 52 and Old U.S. 12. Reportedly, an investigation team has been called to assist in examining the details of the accident. The motorcyclist's family reported that the rider died in surgery. As the official investigation is ongoing, they declined further comment.

Michigan bikers typically act with caution to avoid motorcycle accidents as they navigate our roadways, but are still vulnerable to the potential negligence of other motorists. Tragically, the victim in this report suffered the most severe consequence of being involved in a motorcycle accident. The victim's family may choose to pursue a wrongful death claim against the truck driver and potentially be able to cover the medical and funeral expenses of their loved one, in addition to other damages recognized by Michigan laws.
