Teen driver possibly drunk in one of Michigan's car accidents

There is little more tragic than a fatal car accident that could have been prevented. Sometimes the driver at fault is driving too fast, sometimes he or she is not paying attention and sometimes he or she may be operating the vehicle under the influence. The latter is what police believe may have caused one of the recent car accidents here in Michigan that claimed a newly-married woman's life and injured two others.

Michigan car accidents often accompany bad weather

The blustery winter weather here in Michigan can create dangerous road conditions for drivers. The first two months of this year have already proven to be deadly for motorists who may have had difficulty navigating through poorer weather. Authorities encourage drivers to use extreme caution or stay home when snow and ice are present in order to avoid car accidents. Sadly, not everyone heeds these warnings. This was highlighted by a recent car crash that took the lives of four people and injured five others.

Car accidents more likely with the recent Michigan weather

The inclement weather of late appears to have caused a rise in traffic accidents. Many of these might be preventable if drivers were more cautious while traveling. The icy roads and reduced visibility can impair the driving ability of even the most experienced motorists, let alone those who may not have been driving for more than a couple of years, something which can lead to more car accidents. This was seen in a recent car accident that occurred here in Michigan where a young motorist stands accused of causing an injury crash.

DUI car accidents far too common in Michigan

Any fatal car accident is tragic enough on its own. Those who are unfortunate enough to have lost loved ones in car accidents have their worlds completely shattered and must attempt to pick up the pieces after suffering such a terrible loss. That loss is only amplified when the accident was completely preventable. Recently, several Michigan residents were compelled to recount a devastating crash and its aftereffects that were caused by a motorist who allegedly chose to drive under the influence.

Michigan car accidents claim lives of young people too often

One of the last things any parent wants to deal with is the death of a child. Many times, that loss occurs in an unfortunate car accident, making the situation even more difficult. It comes as no surprise that too many youth are tragically killed in car accidents on Michigan roads each year. A recent single-vehicle accident has resulted in the death of a 12-year-old.

Car accidents can cause problems for Michigan drivers

The holiday season often means crowded shopping malls, holiday parties and increased traffic on Michigan roadways. People are busy buying those last-minute gifts and visiting family and friends. This time of year can be exciting, but it is also a time of year when drivers must pay extra attention to their surroundings. Car accidents can turn a season of celebration into a serious problem.

Tragic Michigan car accidents can claim even a young life

High school students face so many obstacles these days. However, one that they seem to ignore is that life can be fleeting. They likely do not expect to learn that one of their friends, a recent graduate, has been killed in one of the many car accidents that happen every day on streets throughout Michigan and across the country.

Pileup in Detroit leaves at least 4 people with injuries

A terrible pileup accident snarled the morning commute on the west side of Detroit today, with the crash involving at least eight vehicles according to the police. The motor vehicle accident started when two cars collided, sending one of the vehicles into a pickup truck. The truck rolled over and was eventually struck by five other vehicles, though that number was unconfirmed. One of those potential five vehicles was a semi truck.

Low overpass, reckless driver combine to cause fatal bus crash

One type of motor vehicle accident that sometimes flies under the radar is bus accidents. Buses -- whether they are privately operated or function as a part of city or state transit -- pose a serious threat to smaller vehicles out on the road. It is difficult for the drivers to see out of them (or, at least, more difficult than a common car); they are larger and more powerful; and when they are involved in an accident, usually the other vehicles involved in the crash suffer the brunt of the impact.

Distracted driving enters new (and scary) age with Google Glass

Imagine you are driving down the road while wearing glasses. Nothing out of the ordinary is going on, so you quickly settle into a "driving groove," if you will. Then, suddenly, your glasses flash: they prompt you with a text message from a friend. So you tap a button on the side of your glasses and then start speaking, as your spoken words turn into typed words on your glasses. With one more click of a button, your text message is sent.
